Verdeate (Green Yourself) is a Latin American non-profit organization that uses a number of online and offline platforms to promote a series of nature conservation challenges. Many of the challenges are on a personal level, and they consist of specific actions that can reduce our carbon footprint. The idea is to promote green culture.

The Charlas Verdes (Green Culture Lecture Tour), organized by Verdeate, will be in Costa Rica tomorrow May 10^th at Universidad Latina in San Pedro. This is part of a Latin American tour that has already visited Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, and Mexico.

The Green Challenges proposed by Verdeate are simple to accomplish on an individual level. There are many things we can do to reduce our carbon footprint; for example, taking five minute showers, carpooling, unplugging your electronics and appliances at home when not in use, taking a break from eating meat for a couple of days, etc.

The challenges above can go a long way in reducing our carbon footprint, something that we need to do in order to support our national initiative to transform Costa Rica into a carbon-neutral country by 2021. There are several initiatives in place so far, but awareness still needs to be disseminated.

The agenda for the lectures is divided into three main topics:

1. What is climate change and how can we adjust to it?
2. What is being accomplished in Costa Rica?
3. What can you as a responsible individual?

Among the presenters will be Lorena Guevara, Vice Minister of the Environment and Edmundo Castro, Director of Carbon Neutrality research at EARTH University.

The lectures will begin at 8:30 am in the auditorium of Universidad Latina in San Pedro. The San Jose urban train makes a stop there, as well as several bus lines. You can preregister for the lectures at the Verdeate page for the event.
