Britt launched a new line of coffees: Hábitat. The new blends are inspired in Costa Rican wildlife and go hand in hand with the commitment of the company on matters of environmental sustainability, including the protection of native species in the region.
“These blends will support conservation efforts throughout the country, with focuses on specific native species. Our first blend is dedicated to the sloth, perhaps Costa Rica’s most famous resident. The coffee chosen for the blend is from Providencia and Tarrazú, two very different regions, paying homage to these animals’ large distribution area throughout Latin America”, explains Britt in their website.
“Sustainability is one of Britt Group’s fundamental axes, which is why we decided to combine two of our big passions: coffee and our interest in the conservation of biodiversity in our country”, explained Gabriela Muñoz, commercial director of Britt Coffee.
The flavor of the coffee is delicate and balanced with tones of fruit and honey and a slight taste of dark chocolate.
Through this new blend, Britt Coffee will contribute by purchasing 10 sets of collars and 1 receiver/antenna for the Toucan Rescue Ranch, which will allow them to expand their release program.
Toucan Rescue Ranch rescues both orphaned and adult sloths and tries when possible to rehabilitate them to release them back into the wild; however, this requires research and monitoring to ensure the animals adapt properly. Tracking collars and receivers will allow the staff to monitor the sloths as they transition back to the wild.
