Hermosa Beach in Puntarenas will be witness to the final date of the “Kölbi” Surfing Tournament that will take place July 21, 22 and 23.

After 5 dates of competition, the National Surfing Tournament comes to an end and the weekend is expected to have not just great surfing but also great entertainment.

On Friday, July 21st after the different competitions there’s a concert scheduled at the Backyard Bar; on Saturday, July 22 the Reef girls will be making their appearance and the band Reggae Luvers will be performing at the Backyard Bar, and on Sunday, the final day of competition will close with the prize ceremony and the another concert at the Backyard.

The competition will be offering 2.1 million colones (around $3,700 USD) in prizes that will be distributed between the winners in the different categories; however the exact amount for each of the winners has not been disclosed by the Federation.

On Saturday, the event will host a “Reef Pura Vida Tag Team” a relay competition that will award $1000.00 prize money to the winning team.

At this point in the competition the strongest male contestants are Jason Torres, Jair Pérez, Anthony Fillingim, Sean Foerster and Leonardo Calvo; while in the female competition Zulay Martínez and Coral Wiggins maintain the top positions.

The Federation will be performing random PED testing once again, as part of their efforts to ensure fairness and transparency in the competition.
