IBM will expand its Global Security Service Center in Costa Rica making it the biggest in Latin America.

With an investment of $21 million, IBM will expand its operations in the country including its current infrastructure. The Global Security Service Center monitors security events for clients in over 130 countries; the expansion will allow it to triple its capacity and it will add new services such as incidents response, forensic analysis, detection and managed response as well as X-Force Threat Management.

“With this investment IBM strengthens its commitment of 15 years with the country by expanding the reach of its capacity in global cybersecurity promoted by local talent”, explained Matías Haidbauer, head of cyber-security of IBM Costa Rica, to national daily El Financiero.

IBM began its operations in the country in 2004 with its Client Services Center in Heredia. The company will also invest in the training of its current staff, through re-skilling” with the purpose of attending the demand generated.

The changes in the digital technology area increases the risks and frequency of cyber attacks in the companies and its different platforms and therefore the demand of professionals to protect the companies also grows.
