(EFE).- The Cleveland Indians hammered the Chicago Cubs 7-2 in Game 4 of the World Series to take a 3-1 lead in the Fall Classic.

“Nothing changes. We’re going to show up tomorrow. The only thing that changes is we’ll pack our bags, because we’re going to go home one way or the other. We’ll show up and try to beat a really good pitcher tomorrow, and that’s what we always do. Nothing needs to change,” Indians manager Terry Francona said after Saturday night’s game.

The Indians took an early lead over the Cubs and then relied on ace pitcher Corey Kluber to smother Chicago’s hitting.

“We’ve got one more to get, and that’s probably going to be the hardest victory of the year. But this is a special night for me and this team. To take the first two here – now we’ve got a couple tries to win one more. We’re ready to get it,” Kipnis, who grew up on Chicago’s North Side and was a Cubs fan as a boy, said.

The Cubs, whose last championship came in 1908 and most recent World Series berth was in 1945, never got going offensively, struggling to put together rallies against Kipnis.

“We know we have to win out. If we want to get to the last game, we have to win the first one, then the next one. It’s one game at a time, don’t change anything, have fun, smile, just be ourselves,” Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant said.

The Cubs will have to get their bats going on Sunday night to stay alive.

“We made mistakes. But again, we have to do more offensively to give ourselves a chance,” Cubs manager Joe Maddon said.

Cleveland, for its part, is now one victory away from winning its first World Series since 1948.

In Game 5, the Indians will send right-hander Trevor Bauer to the mound, while the Cubs will go with southpaw Jon Lester as their starter. EFE
