The first Ironman 70.3 in Costa Rica took place last year with the participation of over 2,000 athletes representing 40 countries; the second edition of this event will take place June 24 again in Carrillo, Guanacaste.

The registration for this famous endurance competition, opened up several weeks ago, and the cost of registration goes from $300-$375 depending on which tier the registration falls in. To participate, athletes must be at least 18-years-old.

This year, the organization of the event also put together a Tri Camp, which is scheduled for April 27 through April 29 in Playas del Coco, Guanacaste. “This camp is ideal for those training for IRONMAN Costa Rica or 70.3 distance races. It is designed for the beginner, intermediate, and advanced level triathlete and is limited to 100 people” explains the Ironman 70.3 event details, and continues “This camp will review the IRONMAN 70.3 Costa Rica 2018 course that is on June 24, 2018. Every day a discipline is developed and is complemented with clinics taught by professional coaches and Professional athlete Ivan Raña who will provide you with training tips & tricks. At the end of this adventure, a certificate of participation will be awarded to every athlete that completes the camp”. The camp runs $275.00 registration fee.

These events receive the support and sponsorship of the Costa Rica Tourism Board since they promote the country as a destination for sports tourism and recreation. The events are scheduled during months considered “low-season” which is of great benefit to the local businesses.
