Toyota celebrated its second win in the third date of the Costa Rica Touring Car Championship CTCC this Saturday, May 13 at Parque Viva.

Impeccable driving, excellent strategy and a little bit of luck played in favor of José Andrés Montalto from the Toyota team, who took the first place of the CTCC Shell Endurance Cup (150 kilometers) and also consolidated his first position in the general classification.

Danny Formal, from Hyundai, and one of the favorite competitors, had to settle for second place in the general ranking (5th in the third date), and current champion Juan Carlos Alvarado from Suzuki had mechanical problems that sent him to the 12th spot of the ranking.

In the classification round Danny Formal managed to earn the pole position with a small advantage of just 0.055 seconds over Felipe Vargas. Juan Carlos Alvarado, Andrés Saravia and José Montalto completed the top 5 positions at the start line.

When the race began, Formal maintained its first position, while Alvarado and Montalto battled for the second place; however, in lap 33 drivers Bernal Valverde and Carlos Rodríguez suffered a small accident leaving their cars out of competition in the side of the track, in lap 39 the Pace Car entered to take the cars out of the track, by that time, Vargas, Montalto and Alvarado were already in their pits for the mandatory stop, Formal got stuck with the Pace Car since according to the rules cars that are in the track when the Pace Car is there cannot enter the pits, this lost Formal the advantage he had at that point, he made his pit stop in lap 49 and by the time he got back in the track he was one lap behind the main competitors, Montalto, Saravia, Vargas and Marchan (Alvarado had mechanical problems that caused him to lose his chances of a top position).

Andrés Saravia (Chevrolet) came in second place, followed by Felipe Vargas (Ford) and Sebastian Merchan.
