Although the Jurassic World trailer was supposed to be unleashed on Thanksgiving, it appears that Universal Pictures jumped the gun (or the shark, if you watch the trailer below closely) and released an exciting theatrical trailer two days before planned. This new film, which is scheduled to be the mega summer blockbuster of 2015, is faithful to the fictional Jurassic Park universe created by the late author Michael Crichton, and it does take place in Costa Rica. Alas, no part of Jurassic World was actually filmed in our country.

 

A few seconds into the trailer, you can clearly see the majestic flag of Costa Rica flying atop the ferry that takes visitors to Isla Nublar, which from a distance looks almost exactly as if you were approaching Isla del Coco National Park. This similarity is, of course, intentional; the late Michael Crichton researched Isla del Coco and the Galapagos Archipelago when writing Jurassic Park. You can glean from the trailer that those visiting the new Jurassic World are doing so aboard luxury transport, which is certainly how tourism has developed in Costa Rica in recent years.

 

An important paleontological issue to keep in mind is that dinosaurs may have never roamed Costa Rica, although The Costa Rica Star has reported on ongoing scientific research that may actually prove transit of dinosaurs when our country was still very young. Enjoy the trailer!
