Cancun, Mexico, Jan 8 (EFE).- Singer Justin Bieber was thrown out of the Tulum archaeological site on Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula after his security personnel got into an argument with the guards of the pre-Columbian location.

Adriana Velazquez, regional delegate of the National Anthropology and History Institute, or INAH, told EFE that the argument broke out because the Canadian pop star set out to climb one of the ruins of the ancient Mayan city, something that is prohibited.

The guards asked for help from the police, who sent officers to the scene, but “their intervention wasn’t necessary” because everyone had calmed down, Velazquez said.

Nonetheless, Bieber was not allowed to complete his tour and had to leave the archaeological site, one of the most visited in the country.

Bieber, 21, had been touring the Maya Riviera with some friends over the past few days, and on Thursday swam with dolphins at a private dolphinarium.

On Tuesday he visited Jungle Maya Park. Upon his arrival there and after being spotted by some tourists, the singer went to the box office and paid for the whole group to get in.

Bieber asked that most of the people in the park be removed so he could enjoy himself more comfortably, but the administrators said they couldn’t do that because the tourists were already inside. They did, however, offer to assure his privacy during his tour. EFE
