Spanish tenor José Carreras will be performing live in Costa Rica at the Coca Cola amphitheater of Parque Viva alongside the Costa Rica Symphony Orchestra.

The information was confirmed by Free Productions, the company in charge of bringing the artist to Costa Rican soil, during a press conference.

“For us it is a great satisfaction that The Legendary Tenor José Carreras Final World Tour has considered Costa Rica as one of its destinations, since this is the last opportunity to listen to one of the most important lyric singers in history”, said Oscar Umaña from Free Productions.

This is the second time Carreras will be performing in Costa Rica, the first time was back in 1996 when he visited the country as part of the tour Los Tres Tenores (The Three Tenors), next to Luciano Pavarotti and Plácido Domingo.

The Spanish tenor who is now 70-years-old, participated for the first time at age 11 in the Barcelona great opera house; he is particularly known for his performances in the operas of Verdi and Pucchini, has performed in the world’s leading opera houses and has numerous recordings.

His presentation in Costa Rica will include many of the songs that have marked his life as an artist.

“This is a great opportunity for the National Symphonic Orchestra to reach more Costa Ricans in world class shows such as this. It also opens the possibility that a government entity such as the National Symphonic Orchestra takes part in big cultural productions promoted by the private sector”, commented Gabriel Goñi, director of the National Music Center of the Ministry of Culture.
