Las Vegas, Apr 28 (EFE).– Singer, songwriter and producer Mariah Carey said Tuesday that she is “thrilled and excited” over the launching of her new album and her upcoming show in Las Vegas.
In remarks to Efe, the New York artist said that her new show – “Mariah Carey #1 to Infinity” (which is the same as the title of her new album) – will be a chance for her to get “closer” to her fans.
Carey arrived Monday afternoon in Las Vegas, where she is scheduled to do 18 performances coinciding with the release of her new single and music video.
The singer, who has enjoyed a hit-filled musical career, showed up in Las Vegas before hundreds of fans, who were waiting to see their favorite artist up close.
“I feel very happy to be here,” said Carey, who improvised a short bit of her new single to the delight of the people who had waited hours to see her.
Carey’s spate of shows at the Colosseum – at the Caesars Palace hotel-casino in Las Vegas – will begin on May 6 and wrap up on July 26.
“I’m very excited to present my new single and the show in Las Vegas. For me, it’s a new place in my life and the new single was released today, and last night you could really see the emotions of the people listening to it. This is something new in my life and I’m very excited,” the artist commented.
The new album will go on sale May 18 by Epic Records / Columbia Records / Sony Legacy.
For the first time in history, the chronological collection of Carey’s numbers will include her 18 No. 1 hits on the Billboard list.
The 45-year-old artist said she hoped she would repeat some of her earlier successes with “Infinity” – “That would be fantastic. I’m very happy that my fans are enjoying this moment.”
“The public shouldn’t miss my show. They’re going to like my 18 hits and the great production that complements those songs with emotions and love,” Carey concluded. EFE
