YourMathGuru.com was established as an open forum community designed to help those in need of math assistance, known on the site as MathHelpSeekers. The site’s founders enlisted math enthusiasts and professionals, also known as MathGurus, willing to give their time and talent to help participants. Each of the MathGurus receives a small monetary reward based on the number of MathHelpSeekers they help.

Mathematics is a burgeoning field of study in Costa Rica. As previously reported by The Costa Rica Star, math instruction is shifting to a discipline that encompasses greater diversity of students and that also offers more narrative.

There are several different ways MathHelpSeekers can earn by solving math problems at YourMathGuru.com. The first is the Problem of the Day (POTD), which is freely open and available to anyone who wishes to participate. The individual with the best answer to the problem wins a prize of USD $25.13 or, as they like to say in mathematical terms, $8π.

In addition to the POTD, site participants can take part in one of two Olympiads:

MathGuru Biweekly Olympiad – http://yourmathguru.com/forums/forum/mathguru-biweekly-olympiad

Olimpiada Quicenal de GurúsDeMate – http://tugurudemate.com/forums/forum/mathguru-biweekly-olympiad

Both Olympiads challenge participants with a tough problem on a biweekly basis. YourMathGuru.com awards up to five winners per Olympiad with a total prize of $1570.80, or $500π, split evenly between all winners. There is a $2.00 entry fee to participate in the Olympiads.

YourMathGuru.com is happy to announce plans to launch its most ambitious project to date – the YourMathGuru.com Scholarship Program. This new program is designed to help talented, yet underprivileged, students achieve their educational goals by providing scholarship grants to help cover the cost of tuition and other educational expenses. YourMathGuru.com plans to award at least 25 students every quarter with grants of $10,054 or $3200π.

YourMathGuru.com is proud of all the great accomplishments of its MathHelpSeekers thus far. If you would like more information on the top 13 winners, you are invited to watch the site’s new video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_AwP7u2qmVA&sns=em.
