Mayca Food Service, a distributer of food service and bakery products in Costa Rica, inaugurated its new distribution center in El Coyol, Alajuela.
The new facilities will serve as headquarters for the regional expansion the company announced in September of 2016 when they opened a similar establishment in Panama under the brand Sysco (Sysco Corp. owns 50% of Mayca’s shares since 2014); they are currently evaluating the possibility of opening doors in other Central American countries.
Mayca Food Service has over 21 years in the market, has more than 300 commercial partners, 700 employees and over 8,000 clients, it provides service to 90% of the brands and franchises that operatein the country and has 12 self-service centers in the country.
“The new building was designed by Sysco Corporation and it incorporates energy saving state-of-the-art technology. This new infrastructure will allow the growth of the company, will increase our efficiency, the distribution of new products, and will allow us to offer a better customer service”, explained the press release.
The company expects a steady growth in the next three to four years and estimates this will require growing their payroll in at least 250 new positions.
This is, according to Mayca, the biggest food distribution center in Central America with 18,000 square meters; it is twice the size of the previous store and has six times more cooling space with a refrigerator system of 20 doors.
The inauguration took place this July 19 with the presence of the President of Costa Rica, Luis Guillermo Solis and Bill DeLaney, Sysco CEO and José Maroto, Mayca’s General Manager.
