MSD (Merck Sharp & Dohme), known as Merck in the United States and Canada, inaugurated this past November 29 its Financial Services Center in Costa Rica. Through this Financial Services Center, MSD will support the company’s Accounting, Planning and Financial Analysis activities in the Americas, from Canada to Chile. To date the center has generated 200 new jobs.

Susana Pardo, Executive Director of MSD Regional Financial Services Center, stated: “The main reason why we chose Costa Rica as the location of the new MSD Financial Services Center is because of the highly trained human talent in the country. With this new operation we reaffirm our commitment to the country´s growth and development.”

Jhon Fonseca, Vice Minister of Foreign Trade, said that “worldwide, MSD is recognized for discovering, developing and offering of innovative and differentiated products and services that save and improve lives. More than 45 years ago, they have a presence in our country, but this year, they took another step in the consolidation of their local operations. Its new financial services center will generate quality employment for 200 Costa Rican employees, strengthening their skills and transferring specialized knowledge. We are delighted to know that our human talent continues to be a differentiating element in our country´s offer that strengthens our investment climate, making us capable of attracting and retaining investments from operations as innovative and sophisticated as this one.
