The Costa Rican Investment Promotion Agency (CINDE) announced that multinational company MSD, opened today the Pharmacovigilance Data Management Center in Costa Rica. This center will be processing information about adverse events from commercialized drugs and worldwide clinical studies. This is the fourth center established by the company at strategic sites to keep the research management uninterrupted.

“We thank MSD for having trusted Costa Rica to establish its fourth pharmacovigilance center in the world. We are proud to know that it has found the conditions and highly specialized human talent required for a research center of this kind. This is the type of investments that we expect to continue empowering and we’ll keep working this objective, to promote competitive conditions so more companies establish in our country,” said the President of Costa Rica, Carlos Alvarado.

The Minister of Foreign Trade, Dyalá Jiménez, commented: “This inauguration puts Costa Rica again in the map of high-added value businesses. These types of investments promote wellbeing, economic development and high-added value jobs to many Costa Ricans. I deeply thank MSD for trusting our country. Congratulations!”

Luis Gamboa, CINDE’s Chairman of the Board of Directors, affirmed: “This opening is a vote of confidence to our country and to our human talent, which develops high-added value operations and the specialization of Costa Ricans. During 2017, the high-added value exports represented 48% of the country’s services exports, this gives us a view of the country’s potential to work with operations that require a high-level knowledge.”

This center belongs to MSD’s clinical security and pharmacovigilance area, which collects, analyzes and informs about the adverse events as part of continuous efforts to evaluate the security of its products. PRESS RELEASE CINDE
