Move over Globe Trotters, the “Legends of Basketball Latin America Tour 2012” is coming to Costa Rica this July for an exhibition match of former greats. The NBA stars will tip-off and then go head to head at the Palacio de los Deportes in Heredia on July 28^th. The show will feature some of the NBA’s true legends of the game.

Scheduled to be in attendance:

Dennis Rodman: Basketball’s bad boy of the 80’s and 90’s. He rebounded his way to 5 championship rings with the Pistons and the Bulls. He also shocked his way into the hearts of Americans (or shocked his way into loathing!) on and off the court.

Mugsy Bogues: Mugsy claims that back in college he “tipped one in”. The 5’3” ball handler is the shortest player to ever make playing status in the NBA. Not only did he play successfully, he did it for over a dacade.

Gary Payton: With over 1,000 steals, he may be one of the best defensive players of all time. Gary “The Glove” Payton played for the Supersonics for 13 seasons to finally win a championship with the Heat in 2006. “The Glove” scored his 15,000^th point in on March 19^th 2001.

Shawn Kemp: The Supersonics superstar known as “The Man-child” was a 6 time all-star. When number 40 finally left Seattle, he dropped the zero because “It was holding me down.” And just wore the 4.

Jayson Williams: He’s back! The former New Jersey Nets star is out of jail and ready to knock your socks off. An 18 month prison sentence for assault in a shooting death won’t stop the 6’10” Power Forward from playing with the rest of the Legends.

Horace Grant: Mr. Goggles was noted for his defensive playing ability and rebounding skills. Grant is most known for his tenure in Chicago with the Bulls dynasty of Jordan, Pippen, Rodman, and Oakly.

Bonzi Wells: The versatile, dual position Small Forward/Shooting Guard played for various teams over a decade, including the Portland Trail Blazers and the Memphis Grizzlies. He broke Ron Harper’s record 2,377 points in 1998 with a one handed dunk while playing for Ball State University.

A Costa Rican team is also being put together for a pick-up game.
