The University of Costa Rica’s San Pedro, San José campus will host a free, public symposium consisting of three talks in English on different neuropsychology topics on Friday, August 11 at 1 p.m., announced the Professional Association of Psychologists of Costa Rica.

The event, “Neuropsychology: Applications and Research,” will delve into how cognitive neuroscience can lead to better understandings of the thought-brain relationship in a variety of individuals , said the UCR’s Institute of Psychological Research (IIP, in Spanish), one of the event organizers.

The symposium will lead with a talk entitled, “Anatomo-Functional Organization of Executive Functions: Insights from neuroimaging and neuropsychology,” and will be delivered by Antonino Vallesi.

Next, Carlo Semenza will present on “Calculation in the Right Hemisphere,” followed by a talk on “Shaping Early Language and Numerical Abilities in Young Children,” by Silvia Benavides.

All three presenters are researchers and lecturers from the Department of Neurosciences at the University of Padua in Italy.

The University of Padua (Università degli Studi di Padova, UNIPD) is a premier Italian university, founded in 1222 as a school of law, and today one of the highest ranked among Italy’s large universities, according to Wikipedia.

No reservations are required to attend the free and open event which will be held at the UCR’s Health Library Auditorium.
