The new location of PriceSmart shopping club in Santa Ana, Costa Rica opens doors today, (Thursday, October 5th) at 9:30 a.m.
Located in the area of Río Oro, Santa Ana this new shopping club required and investment of approximately US$25 million (US$12 million corresponding to the purchase of he land), the highest so far from all others in the country, because of the sustainability practices used for the construction of the same which makes it the first “Green Shopping Club” in the country. This is PriceSmart’s seventh location in the country and it has generated 150 direct jobs.
With this new store, Costa Rica has the same number of PriceSmart locations as Colombia, a country much bigger in size, which makes the county an important market for this company that has presence in 13 countries globally and a total of 40 stores.
The new location offers all the regular services, under roof parking, sushi fast restaurant, and a new optician shop.
PriceSmart is also currently building a 16,000 square meter regional distribution center in the area of Coyol, Alajuela, Costa Rica with an investment of US$5 million. The park offers a key location for the distribution of goods with excellent connectivity to Juan Santamaría International Airport and the major highways that connect to the local consumer population, Central American countries as well as the Pacific and Atlantic seaports. The state-of-the-art facility will be utilized as a regional distribution center for Latin America.
