Tropical Storm Nate caused a lot of damage in Costa Rica, here we recount in number and images some of the situations currently affecting the country:

• 10 People Dead (According to the last report received by authorities Oct 6th 2 p.m.)
• 30 People Reported Missing and several more trapped
• 7200 People In 94 Shelters Around the country
• 27 Elderly People in Shelter after Elderly Home Flooded in Quepos
• Landslides reported in 75% of the country’s territory
• 24 Routes closed or partially closed
• 72 Schools Affected, mainly in the provinces of Guanacaste, Puntarenas, Cartago and Heredia, some in San José in the counties of Desamparados, Puriscal and Zona de Los Santos.
• 500,000 is the estimate number of people who Don’t Have Water Service

The economic impact Nate left behind is still unknown, but many people lost their homes and all their belongings while many others who work as farmers or ranchers have lost their livelihood, several videos registered the moment where rivers in the area of Guanacaste dragged livestock.

The Government and emergency authorities have stated their priority is to reestablish the access to isolated communities in order for the adequate help to reach everyone in need.

This Friday the rains have stopped in most of the country, but the National Emergency Commission asks the population to stay alert since the level of some rivers and the saturation of the floors can still cause problems; October is, after all, a month of heavy rainfall.

Emergency authorities with the help of private companies and individuals began the distribution of supplies to different communities in need since early this Friday.
