For political junkies the next four weeks will be like riding on an amusement park roller coaster. Across the USA there are way too-many-too-close-to-call elections for governors, senators and representatives, state houses, county offices, local town councils and referendums. It’s all coming up on Nov.6 – the 2018 national midterm election.
Undoubtedly — there will be upsets, surprises and jaw dropping moments as the votes are counted. Who will win? Who will lose? It’s a crap shoot.
The all too recent U.S. Supreme Court confirmation debacle is sure to affect the outcome of some of these nationwide elections that more than likely will favor the Republicans and President Donald Trump’s ‘America First’ agenda. That hateful weeks-long display by vicious far-left Democrats and all those paid fake protesters — that mainstream media concentrated on — will long be remembered by voters.
There will be a fair number of moderate-centrist Democrats and a large number of Independents that will vote Republican this time around because the Democratic Party has moved so far to the left they have fallen off the cliff spinning out of control. Registered Independent voters outnumber Democrats and Republicans. If you don’t have the Independent voter – you lose.
Here’s another thing not to lose sight of – the FBI Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s ongoing Russia/Trump campaign investigation. Will there be a final report or any statements issued by Mueller prior to Nov. 6? Is there a ticking time bomb about to blow just before the midterms.
According to mainstream media the pollsters are working overtime but just who are they polling? The polls on CNN, for instance, favor liberal Democrats. The polls on FOX show conservative Republicans are making gains. But if you take all the latest most respected polls and average them together like what RealClearPolitics.com does — what do they show at this point in time? What are the trends?
Well … folks it goes like this depending where you look. Let’s start with 2018 Generic Congressional rating as polled by Investor’s Business Daily. If this recent poll is accurate it shows a trend toward the Republicans with a 43-percent approval rating to the Democrats 45-percent. In this matchup the Democrats have been much further ahead for months then they are now. But if you compare CNN’s recent poll on the same subject it shows the Democrats at 54-percent and the Republicans at 41-percent. But none of these polls matter and here’s why.
The political landscape of the United States of America is changing rapidly, so much so that any polls taken now will roll along like the famous Coney Island roller coaster named “Cyclone.”
The only poll that matters is the one taken nationally by the voters on Nov. 6, but razor-thin wins are assured with numerous recounts a definite possibly. If the U.S. House races are nail-biting close the nation may not know for days or weeks who controls the House for the next two years. There are too many close races to list here out of the 435 seats up for grabs.
Election Senate showdowns are assured in these crucial states for Republicans: Florida, Tennessee, Indiana, Missouri, Montana, Arizona, Nevada and Texas. Many political observers are giving an edge to the Democrats to regain control of the House, but not the Senate. With the Brett Kavanaugh factor figured in along with a roaring economy and low unemployment rates all bets are off.
The political play of the week goes to President Donald Trump for waiting — until the embarrassing U.S. Supreme Court confirmation stink was over – to announce that United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley is resigning effective Jan. 20, 2019. Just as soon as the mainstream media got wind of the impending surprise resignation the rumors started, but ended soon with the official announcement in the Oval Office with Haley and President Trump.
During her statements, Haley said she would not be running for president in 2020, but would be campaigning for President Trump.
This — broadcast to the nation statement — obviously was the classy way for her to go out after two years as U.N. Ambassador and six years as South Carolina governor. Our president, who had known of Haley’s intentions for six months, picked just the right day to derail the Kavanaugh media feeding frenzy and change the subject.
President Trump can actually keep a secret but only Nikki Haley knows her next political move — attorney general maybe?
