New York, Jul 27 (EFE).– Thirty-five women who say they were victims of sexual abuse at the hands of Bill Cosby give details of their accusations in the latest edition of New York Magazine, published on Monday.

New York Magazine separately interviewed each of the alleged victims of the comedian and television star, who for months has been surrounded by a whirlwind of controversy as woman after woman has come forward accusing him of drugging and then raping her.

Among Cosby’s accusers are well-known ex-models Janice Dickinson and Beverly Johnson, both of whom have gone public with their claims, along with others who have maintained their anonymity.

According to the magazine, the 46 women were subjected to sexual abuse by Cosby, who in 2005 admitted under oath that he had acquired Quaaludes to give to women with whom he wanted to have sex.

The alleged incidents of abuse remained unreported by the women for many years and, in their interviews with the magazine, several of them emphasize the pressures they found themselves under not to openly tell their stories.

In several cases, the comic paid women not to speak about the matter, according to what Cosby himself admitted in court testimony given 10 years ago and made public earlier this month.

Cosby, 78, has always denied the accusations and no charges have been filed against him, but the controversy has destroyed the positive public image he enjoyed for decades as one of America’s best-loved comics.

On Monday, after coming out with its new edition, the New York Magazine Web site went down for several hours, a situation the publication attributed to technical problems. EFE
