If you are a user of Route 32 (San Jose-Limon) and/or the Florencio del Castillo highway that connects San Jose to Cartago , take into consideration that the Quick Pass devices won’t be working on these toll booths for a period of three months.
The Quick Pass is an electronic device that allows drivers to have their toll fees deducted directly from the bank account and to use exclusive lanes for this form of payment.
Starting Friday, March 30 and for at least three months, the devices won’t work in these routes no matter which financial institution issued it. The problem according to Dora Fallas from the National Roads Authority (CONAVI), is because the five year contract with the company in charge of the devices has expired.
A new contract has already been awarded to a different company but they have up to 90 days to change them.
CONAVI has already coordinated with the transit police to avoid any possible traffic jams this problem could generate.
This situation will not affect users of Route 27 (San Jose-Caldera).
