The Shnit Worldwide ShortFilmFestival is taking submissions from short film producers who want to participate in this years’ edition which will take place at the Magaly theater, October 17 through the 21.

All Central American directors and production companies that are interested in exhibiting their short film as well as national filmmakers are invited to take part of this excellent platform.

The Shnit Worldwide Short Film Festival is an international competition that takes place simultaneously in 8 cities: Bern (Switzerland); Bangkok (Thailand); Buenos Aires (Argentina); Cairo (Egypt); Cape Town (South Africca); Tokyo (Japan); Moscow (Russia), and of course San Jose (Costa Rica). The best short films are presented and seen around the world.

“shnit Worldwide Short film festival is a premier venue for the exhibition and promotion of short films. The festival is an exceptional twelve-day event with a unique concept – a transnational film festival simultaneously taking place in eight cities on five continents worldwide”, describes the Shnit’s website.

This Festival was born 16 years ago and has a global audience that has allowed it to become an excellent platform for producers to present their work; the festival has positioned itself as a window to different cultural realities.

“With its cinematic treats, the popular festival fascinates more than 35.000 visitors and therefore belongs to the leading short film festivals in the world”.

In each country, there is a special place for local talent, in this case, Made in Costa Rica. The event also offers workshops part of Talent Focus as well as the Event Circus which consists in parties and gatherings after each of the screenings, organized in different San Jose bars.

Judges of the event are three representatives of the local movie industry. Prizes to the winner include audiovisual services, camera and lights rental for the shooting of the next short film, among others.

Shnit affects all types of short films, fiction, animation and documentary as long as they do not exceed 40 minutes including credits.
