After months of hopeful speculation, careful planning and diligent construction, the second Hard Rock Cafe franchise in Costa Rica will open its doors to the sizable tourist and expat community of Playas del Coco in the province of Guanacaste.

According to a news report filed by entertainment reporter Ariel Chaves Gonzalez of daily tabloid Diario Extra, the Hard Rock Cafe in Playas del Coco will feature a “soft opening” on July 20th and a grand opening on December 5th, which is when the high tourist season is in full swing, The grand opening will also feature special musical guests of high caliber, but project manager Gustavo Araya is not quite ready to give details on the entertainment highlights for that day; he would like to keep it as a surprise for the time being.

For the soft opening, Mr. Araya explained that the new Hard Rock Cafe and its sister location at the Wyndham Herradura Hotel near San Jose will be offering beer and drink specials. Tickets will be raffled in the days before the July 20th opening.

The new Hard Rock Cafe in Playas del Coco is part of the upscale Pacific Retail Shops commercial district, just across from the Automercado supermarket. Hours of operation will be from noon until 2:00 am.

As previously reported by The Costa Rica Star:

This project will be developed following certain style guidelines seen in Hard Rock Cafes located in Acapulco, Miami, and the Balearic Island of Ibiza.

The existing two-story building measures 650 square meters (about 6997 square feet), and will boast a capacity to serve 170 revelers. One of the floors will serve as a storage facility and administrative office.

At the present time, the new Hard Rock Cafe in Costa Rica is engaged in the interior design of this iconic brand. The rock memorabilia that is being acquired is related to the musical careers of reggae legend Bob Marley, Guns ‘n Roses, Cher, Metallica, Pantera, 80s hair band Motley Crue, Colombian pop star Shakira, and rapper Nicki Minaj. There will 77 pieces of memorabilia for guests to enjoy.
