A talented muralist from Spain whose work can be enjoyed from Madrid to Paris and from Miami to Amsterdam has chosen Jaco Beach in Costa Rica as his latest canvas.

Residents and tourists in Jaco Beach can appreciate the mural painted by Dourone and his partner  Elodieloll on Pastor Diaz Street, across from the KFC restaurant.

Dourone is a visual artist who started with graffiti in Spain. After mastering spray paint cans, he started experimenting with more sophisticated techniques to decorate public murals. He developed a style defined as sentipensante, which was created by the late Uruguayan author Eduardo Galeano. Sentipensante is a portmanteau of “feeling” and “thinking,” which denotes well-planned art that comes from the heart.

The Dourone Life Tour brings the talent and experience of these two French-Spanish artists to Jaco Beach, one of the best-known coastal communities of Costa Rica. This mural is similar to others that this couple has gifted to other communities in the past; it depicts stylized human faces, particularly the visage section around the eyes, adorned by abstract designs. The result is highly aesthetic and decorative.

The murals painted by Dourone have been reported by publications such as the LA Weekly, The Guardian, Paris Match, and National Geographic Traveler. The Dourone approach to art is firmly rooted in the graffiti sensibility, in which artwork belongs in the streets because that is where the public is more likely to enjoy it through the processes of observation, learning and reflection.
