English world famous theoretical physicist, cosmologist, regarded author, Stephen William Hawking passed away March 13, 2018 at age 76.
Hawking was diagnosed in 1963 of a form of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) a motor neurone disease that gradually paralyzed him over the decades. When he was first diagnosed he was told he had only a few years to live; yet, he went on to become one of the most regarded scientists and the “father of modern cosmology”.
He was still able to communicate using a single cheek muscle attached to a speech-generating device.
Hawking’s life story was portrayed in the 2014 film The Theory of Everything, starring Eddie Redmayne.
In the last few years he also performed cameos in the US comedy series The Big Bang Theory.
“One, remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Two, never give up work. Work gives you meaning and purpose and life is empty without it. Three, if you are lucky enough to find love, remember it is there and don’t throw it away.”
― Stephen Hawking
