The labor strike affecting the state refinery (Recope) came to and end yesterday after an agreement was reached between representatives of the labor union and the authorities of Recope.

The operations went back to complete normality this Thursday, October 11 at 6 a.m.

Employees of the Costa Rican Electricity Institute (ICE) also resumed their work after one month of striking.

The Administration of ICE agreed not to allow any discriminatory actions, threats or intimidation towards those that had active and peaceful participation on the strike, while the workers agreed to resume their labors immediately to attend all the needs required and ensure the services of telecommunication and electricity in the country.

“This agreement gives us great satisfaction since it guarantees that with the integration of the rest of the personnel our services will be functioning in a optimal way for the benefit of all Costa Ricans”, commented Irene Cañas, president of Grupo ICE.

The striking movements at ICE and Recope were deemed illegal by the labor court.
