Press Release/ The first Texas Tech University campus in Latin America began its construction in Costa Rica with an investment that involves close to $15 million USD.

The construction of 3,321 square meters’ of the campus will be ready by December 2017, the second phase involves opening doors for the first education programs in the first trimester of 2018.

The academic offer will include: Bachelor’s Degree on Electric Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Sciences, Mathematics, Hotel, Restaurant and Business Management, Dual bachelor’s degree on Computer Sciences and Mathematics, Postgraduate in Hotel, Restaurant and Business Management, and Postgraduate on Essentials of Business.

“We are very pleased that the prestigious Texas Tech University chose Costa Rica to open a campus destined for students in the region. This represents a recognition of the economic and political stability of our country and our solid reputation in the education area. It is also one of the objectives of the international work tours and the contacts that we have proposed to attract investments that generate employment. We are sure that this will be the beginning of a mutually convenient relationship in which students will be benefited”, said Costa Rica’s President Luis Guillermo Solis.

“The high quality academic programs that will be offered in the Costa Rica campus will benefit students from Central and Latin America, while at the same time the academic influence of Texas Tech continues to leave a mark”, commented Texas Tech dean Mike Galyean.

The initiative constitutes an important step in the expansion of academic high quality offer in the region and the formation of qualified professionals in the areas of major work demand, it generates employment, transfers knowledge and continues to position the country in the global map.

The new campus will be located in Avenida Escazu and those interested in attending will have to have full command of the English language since all lessons will be taught in English.
