When it comes to eating during vacation, most tourists who arrive in Costa Rica have indulgence on their minds. Such is not that case for future NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady of the New England Patriots and his supermodel wife Gisele Bundchen.

A recent article by Angelique Fiske of Patriots.com explains that the diets of Mr. Brady and his wife while they are in Costa Rica are anything but indulgent. Ms. Fiske cited the comments of a Well and Good Magazine interview with Chef Joanne Gerrard Young, who travels with the fabulous couple to Costa Rica, and her comments indicate that raw diets are preferred by Mr. Brady and Ms. Bundchen.

Salads, vegetarian dishes, juice cleanses, and meals that separate grains from protein are on the menu for the quarterback and the supermodel as they spend time in Costa Rica. The couple used to eschew all desserts and sweets until Chef Joanne introduced them to her vegan treats. One such healthy culinary delight is avocado ice cream, which can also be combined with coconut.

Although Mr. Brady considers avocado ice cream a treat these days, homemade buttermilk biscuits made by his grandmother are his all-time favorite. Such biscuits, however, cannot included regularly in the diets of Mr. Brady or Ms. Bundchen, who must rely on keeping their bodies ultra-healthy in order to manage their successful careers.

Costa Rica is an ideal destination for travelers who stick to raw food diets; after all, this is a country where fresh fruits and vegetables are abundant and can be purchased at very reasonable prices.

Mr. Brady and his family are seasonal residents of Costa Rica. In the last few years, they have been spending more time in our country after Ms. Bunchen retired from the fashion runway.
