A Small and Medium Business (PYMES) Fair will take place at the Plaza Mayor Shopping Center in Rohrmoser, San Jose, from April 26th to April 29th. Everyone is invited to visit the expo and support PYMES in Costa Rica. The businesses that will exhibit their goods and services at the fair include:

  • Artesanía de los Santos
  •  Artesanía Turca Temka Baysal
  •  AsianShop.cr

The focus will be on home décor, furniture, artisan handcrafts from around the world, fine art, jewelry, gardening, and more.

The criteria for PYMES in Costa Rica is centered on the number of employees. A micro-business employs up to 5 people, while a medium-sized company employs no more than 100 workers. PYMES were recognized by President Laura Chinchilla yesterday during the inauguration of Expo PYME 2012 at the Antigua Aduana (former Customs building). In addition to presenting awards to the top three PYMES in the commercial, service and industrial categories, our President also signed two new Executive Decrees aimed to promote and strengthen entrepreneurship in Costa Rica.

The PYMES participating in the event have agreed to donate part of the proceeds to the National Campaign for the Prevention of Blindness.
