Globo’s production of series, known worldwide for its unique character and high quality, is set to delight the Costa Rican audience. Teletica, the largest TV network in Costa Rica, has licensed six titles from the Brazilian broadcaster’s 2015 catalog: the series ‘Merciless’ and ‘The Hunter’, the miniseries ‘Doomed’ and ‘The Party’, and telenovelas ‘Helena’s Shadow’ and ‘Empire’ (nominee for the International Emmy Awards 2015). They are solid plots that have won the hearts of Brazilians and are now conquering audiences all over the world. Teletica has been Globo’s partner for years and has aired hits such as ‘Brazil Avenue’, ‘The Life We Lead’, ‘The Clone’, ‘Looks & Essence’, among others.

‘Merciless’ revolves around serial killer Edu (Bruno Gagliasso, ‘The Enchanted Tale’), who makes himself to be a polite, sensitive, and intelligent young man, but who is actually a stone-cold, unapologetic killer. Written by Glória Perez (‘The Clone’), ‘Merciless’ is the first series entirely recorded and post-produced in 4K, and has already been licensed in this format to South Korea (EPG).

The other series chosen by Teletica was ‘The Hunter’, about police officer André, played by gallant Cauã Reymond (‘Brazil Avenue’). Wrongfully imprisoned, André becomes a bounty hunter while trying to prove his innocence. The super production premiered in March on SIC, on the Saturday night time slot dedicated to original series in Portuguese, and increased the Portuguese network’s ratings by 55% (source: GFK).

Cauã Reymond also stars in ‘Doomed’. He plays Leandro, a sommelier who gets involved with several married women, until finally falling in love with the daughter of his mistress and his boss. With high levels of passion, the miniseries has aired in Argentina (Telefé), Mexico (TV Azteca), and Portugal (basic Globo), always to great acclaim.

Licensed to ten different countries, the miniseries ‘The Party’ is a noir drama about a high-society party that turns into a mysterious crime scene. The cast includes Globo stars such as Tony Ramos (‘Passione’) and Patrícia Pillar (‘Side by Side’).

Telenovela ‘Helena’s Shadow’, which will also air in Costa Rica, portrays the comings and goings in the lives of cousins Laerte (Gabriel Braga Nunes, ‘Irrational Heart’) and Helena (Julia Lemmertz, ‘Looks & Essence’). Mixing stories of love, hate, jealousy, passion, and envy, the plot has aired in Portugal (SIC) and Colombia (RCN), among other countries.

Finally, Costa Ricans will also follow ‘Empire’ (nominee for the International Emmy Awards 2015), which tells the story of humble young man José Alfredo (Alexandre Nero, ‘Looks & Essence’). He arrives in Rio de Janeiro looking for a better life and, years later, becomes a millionaire jewel trader. Written by Aguinaldo Silva (‘Looks & Essence’), the telenovela has been licensed to more than 15 countries, including the United States (Telemundo) and Portugal (SIC).
