Twelve Costa Rican designers showcased their talent at Swim Week 2017 in Miami

Twelve Costa Rican designers had the opportunity to showcase their talent at the Swim Week 2017 in Miami, Florida which took place July 21-23 at Soho House Hotel.

Guayaberi Swimwear, Fabrizzio Berrocal, Nomadic Collector, Etérea, Lolita Mia, John Howard, MEBKIKIS, Makalo Swimwear, Ana Gutierrez, NINFO Swimwear, Tres Tropical and Elha Jewerly are the twelve companies that took part in this event and that received the help of PROCOMER (Foreign Trade Promotion Agency) in the process.

PROCOMER trained and prepared the national designers on how to properly present their proposals, the materials and samples they had to take with them and created contacts within the industry; they also got personalities to wear the clothing articles and in this way promote the Costa Rican products.

“This year we have several events for this sector, with the purpose of creating new business opportunities, and with the objective of helping them position their products in the international market”, explained Alvaro Piedra, Exports Director of PROCOMER.

Products showcased included swimsuits, jewelry and accessories for both women and men; for example Ana Gutierrez is known in the fashion industry for her jewelry and accessories, Guayaberi Swimwear designs swimsuits and Fabrizzio Berrocal designs male fashion articles.

The event was an opportunity to not just showcase their products and brands but also a chance to network, this edition involved the participation of around 100 buyers, including distributors, department stores and boutiques.

Many of this designers will also be participating in the upcoming Mercedes Benz Fashion Week.
