Rescue teams received a call the morning of this Sunday informing of people stranded near the crater of the Turrialba Volcano.
Members of the Fire Department and Red Cross had to walk several kilometers to get to the place where they found two people, one of them a woman who apparently had a fractured arm. Getting the couple back to safety took several hours.

This was the second call received by the rescue teams, since late Saturday afternoon they had been informed of a man that had suffered a fall in one of the slopes of the volcano, it was not until the early hours of this Sunday when they were finally able to get him out, and just minutes later they received the second call about the stranded couple.

Authorities call on national and foreign tourists to respect the restricted areas and not adventure on their own in an area they are not familiar with, it is often that they need to rescue groups of stranded tourists sometimes they suffer injuries due to falls, but they also face other risks such as venomous snakes and, of course, volcano activity. Search and rescue missions consume important resources and endanger the lives of the members of the teams.
