A U.S. man drowned in Montezuma Beach, Cobano, Puntarenas this Friday, February 2.

The man was kayaking along with his wife when their kayak was dragged in by the waves and the strong winds, the kayak turned over the couple tried to get back on but the conditions of the ocean didn’t make it possible, neither of them were using a life vest.

Witnesses that were in the area called 911 and went into the ocean to help them with a surf board and a buggy board, when they were able to get to the couple they were still conscious but frighten and desperate, the man had swallowed a lot of water and by the time they got him out of the water he was non responsive.

 

Even though the paramedics performed revival maneuvers for 45 minutes the 60-year-old man did not respond. The wife, a 55-year-old woman was reported stable.
