The Texas A&M women’s soccer team arrived to Costa Rica last Sunday for an 8-day trip where they mixed in fun with a couple of exhibition matches with Costa Rican teams; meanwhile, the University of Louisville women’s soccer team arrived on Saturday with the same purpose, they had three exhibition matches scheduled, lots of fun and service projects awaiting.

A great opportunity for local teams to measure up against the international players; unfortunately, the UofL defeated Dimas from Escazu 3-0, the under 17 Costa Rican national team with a 7-0 score and also Liberia by a hurtful 10-0 score.

Texas A&M took on Saprissa’s women division and won 6-0 , and on Thursday they measured up against Moravia who had won the inaugural UNCAF Women’s Inter-Club Championship last may and also defeated them by a 3 -0 score.

The players from the different teams have been posting their experiences in Costa Rica in their social media accounts, zip-lining, having dinner in authentic Costa Rican restaurants, enjoying the beach, and even strolling around San José.

Part of their trip has also involved community service projects such as spending time with underprivileged children in San Jose.

“Soccer aside, the opportunity for our student-athletes to go abroad to live in and experience a foreign culture is one of the special things Texas A&M stresses for all of its students“, stated Guerrieri, head coach of the Aggie soccer team.

South Texas Youth Soccer Association also has their girls’ and boys’ soccer team in Costa Rica since March 11th.

Finally, Chris Bocklet, Health and Fitness Coach and Lacrosse Director of the Atlanta Blaze is also spending some time in the country in the location of Samara in Guanacaste where he is teaching local kids to play Lacrosse.
