The University of Costa Rica (UCR) once again claimed its spot among the 20 best universities in Latin America, according to the QS World University Rankings 2019.
The QS World University ranking, evaluates universities across the world and lists the 1000 top universities using six different indicators:
Academic Reputation (40%)
Employer Reputation (10%)
Faculty/Student Ratio (20%)
Citations per faculty (20%)
International Faculty Ratio (5%)
International Student Ratio (5%)
In the general ranking the University of Costa Rica went down several spots from the 411-420 ranking to the 501-510 range.
The University of Buenos Aires (Argentina) took the top spot among the universities in Latin America, followed by the UNAM in Mexico and the Sao Paulo University of Brazil.
Three other Universities in Costa Rica made the 1000 list, the National University is ranked in the 751-800 range, the Costa Rica Technology Institute (TEC) and ULACIT both are in the 801-1000 range.
Globally MIT took the first position for seventh consecutive year, followed by Stanford University and Harvard.
