Nine out of ten people in the world breath air with contamination levels that are higher than those recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO), being aware of this problem is what inspired a Costa Rican company to create “Essential Air”, cans of 100% rainforest air from Costa Rica.

“WHO estimates that around 7 million people die every year from exposure to fine particles in polluted air that penetrate deep into the lungs and cardiovascular system, causing diseases including stroke, heart disease, lung cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases and respiratory infections, including pneumonia”, explains a recent report by WHO.

The company began this project in 2016 and recently started exporting their products with the purpose of giving people around the world the opportunity to breath fresh air.

Through the use of adequate technology they capture the air effectively and efficiently using renewable energy; the can comes with a mask to make air accessible to the user.

“We are extremely proud of the product we’re presenting you today. Our hope is that this product will help you regain your energy daily with the best thing Costa Rica has to offer: its clean and natural environment”, states Esteban Santiago, CEO of the company.

The air is obtained from the mountains of Buenavista Mountain in the area of Zona de los Santos, it is filtered and compressed into cans of ten liters each, which offers over 200 shots of air, with each can, the users also have the possibility of accessing audio landscapes, sounds of nature, to complete the experience.

“For its second phase, we will be able to implement a system that allows us to reuse the cans as many times as necessary. It is our interest to improve the quality of life of the people that live in countries of high-risk without affecting the environment”, explained Santiago.
