Walmart has confirmed the construction of new Walmart store, this time locate in the city of Liberia in the province of Guanacaste, Costa Rica, nearby the EL Sitio Hotel, an area of high transit.
With this new location, the first one constructed outside the metropolitan area, the company will have a total of 10 establishments of this brand in the country.
Julio Viales, mayor of Liberia, confirmed that the new store involves a construction of 5,000 square meters, making it the biggest supermarket in Guanacaste, and is expected to generate 90 direct employments. The company had to pay close to 10 million colones (over $18 thousand USD) in construction taxes to the Municipality.
The city of Liberia continues its expansion process, triggered by the growth of the Daniel Oduber International Airport, the new road, and in general, the growth of the tourism sector.
Quiznos recently opened a new location close to the main intersection in Liberia; prior to it, Quiznos only had presence inside the Liberia airport.
KFC restaurants also announced its expansion in the country with three new restaurants, one of them will be located in Liberia, this franchise already has a presence in Guanacaste, but in the city of Nicoya.
