This morning, Colombia’s low-budget regional Wingo airline joins a growing number of regional flight options available out of Costa Rica when it touches down for the first time in the country with passengers from Panama.

After an inaugural celebration at the Juan Santamaría Airport (SJO) in Alajuela, roughly 15 miles west of San José, passengers will then board for a flight to Guatemala, said Marcela Hidalgo Calderón, Wingo representative in Costa Rica.

The airline offers regional flights to 16 destinations in 10 countries. It will initiate operations in and out of Costa Rica’s SJO airport with service to Panama and Guatemala.

Its Costa Rica operations will be on four Boeing 717-700 planes which have a 142-passenger capacity in a single cabin (no first class options), said local Wingo representatives.

Tickets have been available online since October 20 when the airline announced the opening of its services in and out of Costa Rica.
