Our goal is to create a thriving Work Bike Industry in Central America, to encourage job placement and create opportunities, while utilizing our Designs as a sustainable resource that can generate a livable wage for hundreds of new jobs that will be created under this program.

The mission of La Asociación CREAR is to provide supplemental educational, recreational, and career opportunities for community members, primarily youth with limited resources, in the rural beach communities surrounding Playa Sámara in Guanacaste, Costa Rica, by offering a wide variety of innovative programs focusing on academic and artistic education, environmental consciousness, health, and socio-cultural development.

By donating money to our cause, you are able to assist Pedal Power Work Bikes and Asociacion Crear in securing the necessary materials, the hardware, and the bicycles to operate these services professionally. You will be funding the creation of a stable working environment, where locals can come to learn more about the process of designing and fabricating these vehicles. You will be supporting the hands on training of locals who will utilize these vehicles to generate an income, provide a environmentally conscious service, as well as creating a form of employment for many.

Our goal is to purchase: 20 Mountain Bikes, Materials for the Fabrication of 10 Pedicab Trailers, and 10 Cargo Trailers, and the necessary parts and hardware to create a working and sustainable business model.

We plan to upgrade the garage facilities with additional outlets, better lighting, and to be able to increase the security of the storage areas for the vehicles. We also plan to purchase some simple work benches and bike maintenance tools to maintain the fleet.
We plan to establish an insurance policy to cover our services, and to be able to cater our services to larger groups and compaines that will be interested in this development.

We plan to purchase a single desktop computer to handle the logistics and planning, recordkeeping, and accounting of the business.
If the financial goal of this fundraiser is not reached by the time we plan to go to Costa Rica in early September, we will be going to the area with a limited funding for this program, and working with the donated funds to try to expand the program through additional appeals to our online supporters.

Impact:

The area in Playa Samara, is very oriented towards Travel and Tourism, and has a large amount of the surrounding areas dedicated to an Agrarian lifestyle. The economic gap in the classes of the two lifestyles is slowly becoming even greater in these areas, as there is no resource that the unemployed residents are able to use for their needs; a major cause of the economic poverty in Central America.

The donations that you give to our cause, will be used as a socio-economic resource, that will be established to create a system that generates employment opportunities for underpriveledged youth and middle aged individuals. Every cent will be spent on developing two types of services: an Urban, and Agrarian service model.

In the Urban areas, they will be able to offer a locally based Taxi and Tour Shuttle Service, in the centers of interest that have become hot spots for International Travelers. Their prescence in a service role will allow them to better integrate themselves into the functions of the city, gaining respect for their physical effort through Environmental Reform, and recieving thanks from many people for their courtesy and hospitality in these unique areas. They will be able to secure service contracts for food and parcel delivery, to be able to offer trash removal and scrap metal recycling services.

In the Rural areas, the residents will be able to assist the farmers who have no vehicles, to deliver their harvests to market, and carry supplies to the farmers, for a small service fee. This will ease the burden on many farm animals, and become a more efficient system for them to use to carry goods to the area markets. They will be able to carry trash, metals, plastic, and cardboard recyclables to the appropriate disposal areas, helping to create a better environment for the entire area.

This effort will attract media interests from the area, who will use our development as a template, to encourage others in the surrounding cities and countries to initiate in this movement, a movement towards ending their dependence on fossil fuels, while returning a level of stability to the local economy through harnessing the efforts of Pedal Power, and Socially-Conscious Investment.

This effort will set an example for local governing organizations and non-profits to follow, an example that proves that the only solution that is needed to curb poverty…….. is an opportunity.
