Thursday night a 23-year-old woman from the United States was found dead inside her car after it crashed head-on into a pick-up truck near the Tarcoles River along the main Central Pacific highway, stated the Judicial Investigative Agency (OIJ) in a press statement this afternoon.

The regional Garabito OIJ unit was called to the scene of the crash around 9:00 pm.

Traveling from Jacó towards Tárcoles in a small car, the woman, whose last name is Washington, apparently lost control and swerved into on-coming traffic where she collided with a pick-up. Her car then went onto the highway shoulder where she was found dead inside.

Traffic police did an alcohol test on the truck’s driver, and the results showed negative.

Washington’s body was sent to the judicial morgue for an autopsy.
