The Costa Rica International Film Festival (CRFIC) opened its inscriptions for the 2017 edition in the categories of Central American Film and National Short Film Competitions.

This year’s festival will take place between December 7 and December 16 in an event organized as usual by the Film Center (Centro de Cine) and the Ministry of Culture.

The CRFIC is a program that seeks to promote a space of encounter and dialogue among the national audiovisual sector, members of the international film industry and the general Costa Rican audience as wells as to generate space for independent movies from different parts of the world that otherwise would be difficult to exhibit in Central America.

“We want to promote our Festival as a Central American reference in quality and opportunities for the audiovisual productions, without leaving out the mission of allowing these activities to reach the entire audience in an inclusive way”, states Fernando Rodirguez, director of Cento de Cine.

The inscription period will remain open through Friday, October 6; requirements and the registration form can be found online at www.costaricacinefest.go.cr.

The National Short Film Competition is exclusive for Costa Rican short films and it seeks to highlight the value of short films as a filming modality of artistic quality and creative inquiry.

Winners of the competitions will receive prizes, cash incentives, of up to 5 million colones.

All selected works will be participating for the awards and nominations that spotlight different artistic and technical aspects.
