Where in the world is Lindsay Lohan? The Hollywood star and tabloid media magnet reportedly celebrated New Year’s Eve in Costa Rica, specifically Bahia Salinas in the Gold Coast of Guanacaste, but she has been geographically tagging her Instagram updates in Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur.

One of Miss Lohan’s recent Instagram updates features a beach vista of a calm ocean against an impressive azure sky, certainly a beach in Costa Rica; alas, the photo was manually geotagged in Mexico. As of this morning, Miss Lohan’s New Year update had garnered more than 50K likes and hundreds of comments making fun of her geographical faux pas. Many of the comments are lighthearted; to wit: “Better get a map!,” “Wish I was there to guide you around,” “She just got her countries mixed up,” and “she got Chikungunya again!,” but other comments were very derisive.

As reported by The Costa Rica Star on New Year’s Eve, Miss Lohan posted an Instagram video that showed her getting out of bed and giving a tour of a luxurious suite overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Miss Lohan further explained that she was staying at a beautiful place in Costa Rica, and planning to enjoy the beach while starting the New Year with a clean slate and a good intention “just as Oprah told me.” Miss Lohan is probably referring to a video conferencing session she claims to have shared with U.S. media empress Oprah Winfrey during Christmas.

Miss Lohan is not the only celebrity to get geographically disoriented in our country. As previously reported by The Costa Rica, a Colombian lingerie model and singer who performed in Heredia thought she was in Puerto Rico, and a cast member of the Real Housewives of Orange County once thought that Costa Rica was a state in Mexico.
