The Arsenal Football Club of the Barclays Premier League and the Villareal Club de Futbol of La Liga Española have agreed on a loan transfer that will see striker Joel Campbell play out the rest of the season in Spain.

Campbell played an important role for Costa Rica during the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, and Arsenal fans were delighted to see him finally arrive to the club after loan stints in Spain, France and Greece. Alas, Campbell did not see a lot of playing time with the Gunners, which is something that he was not very happy about.

On his very own sports news website, Campbell stated that he is very happy to join Villareal, and that he enjoys both the club and the prestigious league, one of the most venerated in the world of association football. As Campbell will be at “Yellow Submarine” Villareal on loan from Arsenal, it is very likely that he will see plenty of playing time.

As previously reported by The Costa Rica Star, the brilliant striker from San Jose started in just one match with Arsenal, and he came off the bench about a dozen times. Legendary Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has never hinted, at least not in public, that he wanted to keep Campbell off the team roster, but he could not guarantee as to when, if ever, Campbell would start in a Premier League match ever again.

It has been hinted in some online football discussion forums and on social networks that Mr. Wenger is not very enthusiastic about starting Latin American players. The club has two Latin American goalkeepers and two forward strikers on its roster; Joel Campbell gets about as much playing time as his fellow Latin American teammates, which is not much when compared to his successful time in the Greek football club Olympiakos.
