We don’t always have the time to enjoy a long vacation, but most of us have the possibility of enjoying at least one day off every week, and living in Costa Rica, it’s a sin not to enjoy at least one day of these days getting to know one of the many beautiful places Costa Rica has to offer.

Here are some one-day tours in Costa Rica that you can’t miss:

Isla Tortuga, Puntarenas: One of the top tours visitors enjoy taking in Costa Rica is the tour to Tortuga Island in Puntarenas, tour boats usually depart from cities like Jaco or Puntarenas, and it takes close to 90 minutes to get to the island. The beautiful and clear waters are perfect to practice snorkeling and scuba diving, but others prefer jet skiing, swimming or simply spend the day relaxing under a palm tree.

Irazú Volcano: The Irazú volcano is the perfect day getaway; located in the province of Cartago, the road to get there offers incredible views. When you arrive to the volcano the fresh air will welcome you, the high altitude, 3,432 meters above sea level, make for a delicious cold temperature and rich vegetation. The Irazú volcano has been one of the most active volcanos of Costa Rical; it has several craters but two of them are the main attractions, in clear days you get to watch from the top both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Most visitors of the Irazú volcano also make time to stop by the Lankaster Botanical Gardens, 11 hectares of land where you will find a wide variety of plants, orchids in particular. A stop at the Orosí Valley is also worth it if you can make the time, history and nature is what you can expect to find.

Bajos del Toro: In the province of Alajuela, not many tourists are familiar with this place, but it is an amazing place to visit and spend the day. The biggest attraction here is the Catarata del Toro, or Toro Waterfall; located within a private reserve you can visit from Monday through Saturday, the waterfall is impressive and getting to it is also part of the adventure.
