The “Kölbi” National Surf Tournament will have kick start its seventeenth edition this January 21st and 22nd at Dominical Beach; in total this event will have six different dates, visiting the main four ocean sites in Costa Rica: North Pacific, South Pacific, Central Pacific and the Caribbean:
January 21 and 22 Dominical Beach
March 25 and 26 Puerto Viejo
April 22 and 23 Santa Teresa
May 20 and 21 Nosara
June 24 and 25 Jaco
July 21,22 and 23 Hermosa (Puntarenas)
The participating categories are the same as last year: Open (Male and Female), Junior (Male and Female), U16 (Boys and Girls), Grommets (U14), Mini Grommet Boys and Girls (U12)
The Costa Rica Surfing Federation explained that in this edition the highest four scores out of the six dates for each competitor will be added and that will decide the winner at the closing in July at Hermosa Beach.
“This National Surf Tournament is the main showcase tool in the country for the competitors. It is also a scenery to demonstrate why each athlete should be considered for the National Team, which in 2017 will be traveling to France for the World Championship”, said Randall Chaves, President of the Costa Rica Surf Federation.
Registry for the first date started since January 2nd with a cost of $40 in all categories. Membership for the competitors is established at $60.00

Mini Grommets Boys: Axel Castro (Limon)
Mini Grommets Girls: Lía Díaz (Tamarindo)
