The cultural project “Your City, Your Canvas” (Tu Ciudad, Tu Lienzo) which this year chose the Casa del Parque Hostel in San José as the canvas to display urban art, has already selected ten proposals as the finalists for this project.

“After an intense analysis process, and with the complexity of having to consider the criteria of all the different advisers of the visual arts project from the Costa Rica Festival of the Arts (FIA2017) and with a lot of respect towards the more than 100 proposals that participated, we have selected the 10 finalists”, announced San José Labs, one of the organizers of the project through their Facebook page.

The ten proposals are being presented to the public and as people vote for their favorite proposal the vote will be added to the jury’s score to select the winner. The option to vote will be open through June 5 in the album created on the Facebook page @TuCiudadTuLienzo

“It is not a competition of “likes”, the votes on Facebook will represent another person in the jury; in other words, the entire audience represents one vote”, explained Mauricio Herrera from San José Lab.

The rest of the jury is composed by the Ministry of Culture, San José Lab, The Artistic and Cultural Production Center, representatives of brand management of Banco de Costa Rica, two independent architects and the owners of Casa del Parque.

On June 6 the artists will defend their proposals in front of the jury, and the winner, its design and concept will be reveled Thursday, June 8. The winner will receive a prize of $3,000 USD.

“The work will begin immediately once the winner is announced, since the design has to be ready before the opening of the Costa Rica International Festival of the Arts which is set for June 29th “, mentioned Herrera.
