The Texas Tech University in Costa Rica will be ready to open doors in August of 2018 in Avenida Escazú.

According to information published by daily La Nación and provided by Jack Bimrose, Administrative Director of the University, students will have to pay approximately US $1,500.00 a month to study one of the offered careers, Electric Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Sciences, Math, and Business Administration for Hotels, Restaurants and Institutions.

“We have to cover the cost of an international education provided locally. It is a higher cost than other institutions in San José, but less than studying abroad specially if you consider living expenses”, said Bimrose.

Those who wish to study at the Texas Tech University must have fluent English, since all classes will be given in this language.

Student loans will be available through (Conape) and in the future scholarship programs will be available.

The careers offered are considered to be of high demand and low offer, each has a duration of four years if the student takes the complete number of subjects every period. The first year, students receive general studies. Students will graduate with a North American degree recognized worldwide. At least an 80% of the professors will come from the main campus in Lubbock, Texas, USA.

The construction began in October of 2016, it includes 3,321 square meters, it will have capacity of 1,300 students and it involves an investment of close to $15 million.

“This country has political stability, education in its DNA, a reputation for the quality of its human resource; the level of English of “ticos” is admirable, and the country has opened itself to the areas of technology and the industrial sector that are hungry for qualified professionals. There is potential”, affirmed Bimrose.

Students who attend the Costa Rica campus will also have the possibility of participating in exchange programs, international cooperation programs, research programs and internships.
Graduating from Texas Tech Costa Rica will also have the accreditation of different US entities such as the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools-Commission on Colleges, among others.
