For those of us lucky enough to still have our mother with us and if we have them right here in Costa Rica living with us, next Tuesday, August 15 we will be celebrating another Mother’s Day.

All mothers are different and therefore it is difficult to make recommendations on gifts, some like working out, others have particular hobbies, some enjoy cooking and others are into technology, certainly all mothers like quality time with their family, but one thing is for sure, on this particular day every mother should be spoiled, so whether you have a limited or unlimited budget, make time for the person that brought you into this world and that spends days and nights worrying about you and caring for you, give it a good, long thought and make this a special Mother’s Day, here are some options and ideas:

1) Get her out of the kitchen! It is her day, take her out to her favorite restaurant, if she doesn’t have one, just pick one according to her favorite food. 2) Trip? If your mother hasn’t taken a vacation for a while perhaps it is time to surprise her, take a one day tour in Costa Rica; or if budget is not a problem, get her airplane tickets to a place she’s always wanted to go, better even if you can go with her. 3) Spa day: no woman can resist to a spa day, mothers love and deserve to be pampered, especially if they don’t have to pay for it; many esthetic centers and beauty salons are having special promotions for this day; massages, manicure and pedicure, facial, special beauty treatments, whatever it may be, she will surely enjoy it.

4) Gift Certificate: If you are not sure what to get your mother, then play it safe, get her a Gift Certificate at her favorite mall, not from a specific store but from the mall in general, this way she can spend it in any store she wants.

Although getting a gift is always well received, remember the best gift to give is quality time.
