Shnit, the Worldwide Shortfilmfestival Playground, is celebrating its 14th edition, and it takes place in 8 cities in four different continents simultaneously, Buenos Aires (Argentina), Bern (Switzerland); El Cairo (Egypt); Capetown (South Africa); Moscow (Russia), Tokyo (Japan), and Bangkok (Thailand) and San José (Costa Rica); this year it will be held from the 18th to the 22nd of October.

In Costa Rica, the event will be held at the Magaly movie theater; initially, 90 national shortfilms registered to be taken into consideration and the organization chose 14 for competition in the category “Made in Costa Rica and 10 to showcase local talent “Sabor Local”. The 14 selected short films in competition will be shown on Thursday 19 and Friday 20th.

Made in Costa Rica will show the level and quality of the Costa Rican productions; these will be evaluated by a panel of judges composed of Karina Avellán, Costa Rican audiovisual promoter; Christian Herrera, director of photography, and Ernesto Calvo, historian and master in sociology and Visual Culture Studies and Projects.

“Shnit Shortfilmfestival works as a platform for local filmmakers, we are present in everything the festival organizes around the world, this allows us to position ourselves a country that produces films”, explained Josué Fischet director of the Shnit Festival San José through the Facebook page of the audiovisual community “deleFoco”

Sabor Local (Local Flavor) will exhibit 10 short films on Saturday, October 21. The programming on other days include international short films, workshops and special activities.

The award ceremony takes place the last day of the international competition.
